Challenge Two
The piece that I had chosen to recreate is a painting created by Nick Foligno, the Columbus Blue Jackets captain. He painted it in an event where the whole team creates these Christmas paintings and then are sold with the earnings going towards charity. For Christmas in 2019, I had found the painting by Foligno and new my mother would adore it. She adores Foligno. My father helped me in the auction for it and my mothers face when she unwrapped it on Christmas morning was glorious. She was hopping and dancing knowing that she has a hand painted painting by her "hockey husband". She decided to hang it in the hallway upstairs.
Despite the joyous moment and memory of getting my mother an awesome gift, everyday I typically walk right past it not giving it two thoughts. I will even glance at this painting, sometimes I fully look at it while walking by and yet, I don't think of the sweet memory. I will only think on it when my mother walks past and remarks it.
I focused on what medium would work best to recreate each aspect of this painting in the best way possible. I looked at acrylic paint, colored pencils, markers and water color. Turns out I used all mediums together to recreate the painting.
My mother was so excited that I decided to recreate it, she tweeted my final piece tagging Foligno!
He seems to think it's pretty neat :)
