For my project, I redesigned my art studio into one that would be able to suit all of my needs that I currently find myself with when it comes to creating art. Right now all of my stuff is on one big table. This can be nice for the most part but at times it gets cluttered and trying to get something buried beneath something else gets bothersome. I listed some words that I wanted to help me when designing this studio space: openness, lighting, storage, comfortability, table-space, different "stations", and my materials.
The room my studio would be in would be a large square room. The desk I would do most of my work on would be a nice wood desk and is in the corner by two large windows to let in plenty of natural light. It would have a raised ledge along the back with slots to store pens and markers so I can easily see and reach which ones I need. this ledge would also house many small drawers where I would keep my colored pencils. I would also have a nice bright and adjustable lamp to shine on my work when natural light would not be suitable. built into the desk on the left would be a light table for ease of access. there would be 4 drawers attached to the desk that would contain a lot of my other supplies that I need such as pencils, lead, erasers sketch books and more. I would have a craft table with a built in cutting board and a small peg board on the wall to hang things like rulers and scissors along with drawers to contain any other crafty type art supplies. I would also have a table dedicated to digital art which I would have a drawing tablet and pen set up along with a mouse and keyboard. in the middle of the room would be an easel for painting and a custom table that would have easy storage for my brushes and a large glass palette for mixing paint. This table would contain slots and space for open storage of other supplies like paint and palette knives. I would have a display cabinet to show some art work as well as hanging it around the room. A custom built shelf/open storage unit for canvases would be in the corner. A large set of drawers would be available to house anything large like XL sketchbooks, sheets of glass and even other finished works of art. Lastly I would have a decently sized countertop with a sink and plenty of cabinets for cleaning supplies etc. as well as a mini fridge to fuel my thirst and hunger whenever I work on projects. The floor would be hardwood and the walls would be white to accent the displayed art. And very importantly, there would be an excellent heating and cooling system to help my feet stay comfortable while I focus on art.
