Work Space - The Iodine Dungeon

My work space at home is one shared by three members of my family. I've already had this space set up, I just had to do some tidying up considering I had to bring home a studio's worth of stuff. The shelves you can see contain all the paint I've scrounged together over the years, some shelves for my acrylic skins, and shelves containing general use art supplies. Another shelf has some paintings I've done stored together with a milk crate of past sketchbooks. The top right shelf contains my younger brother and I's collection of neat glass bottles and the freaky ghosts that cicadas leave behind after ecdysis.

I usually work by directly on the concrete floor by laying my work on the ground because I don't own an easel strong enough to support the wooden boards I like to paint on. When I'm not working on the ground, I'm working at the lip of the crawlspace which is conveniently tall enough not to hurt my back.

The basement at home is nicknamed the Iodine Dungeon, named after a confusing sign my younger brother Luke put on the basement door years ago.
I suppose you could say my thought process was simple. It's a matter of practicality. Everyone in my family is an artist in some regard, so it makes sense to have a shared space. The basement at home is a great space for it. I'd rather not have to work on the hard concrete nor on the lip of the dim crawlspace, but I can deal with it.
